 WCFC also captured a Region 1 Premier League championship when the U13 Girls defeated NEFC in the finals in Deleware.  The team will be looking to defend its Region 1 Championship this summer.

WCFC has announced tryout dates for its USSF Development Academy, Elite Clubs National League and National Premier League teams for the 2013/14 season. Tryouts are for all teams and all ages (U8- 14)

The U-13/14 Academy program is based on the same philosophy as the older Academy age groups, which features more training sessions, less games and more meaningful competition. The competitive schedule will place a greater emphasis on local games due to the younger ages of the players and will also include a futsal component during the winter.

In the coming weeks, the Development Academy will announce the full 2013-14 schedule and team/division breakdown for the U-13/14 Academy season

“We are excited to add 22 new clubs to the Development Academy system in the U-13/14 age group,” Development Academy Director of Scouting Tony Lepore said.“We feel that it is very important to spread the Academy philosophy to an expanded pool of players and clubs in this age group as we launch our first season of U-13/14 programming this fall. The new clubs have the qualities we look for in the areas of coaching, player pools, training programs, facilities, infrastructure and age-appropriate development philosophy. They are also well located and based in key markets that help to expand the elite player pool in this age group, while incorporating a model that minimizes the amount of travel and costs for league play.”

U15 - Tied their first match against Dix Hills (ranked #3 in NY State) and defeated Manhattan Cruzeiros 3-0 earlier today in their second match (the defending NY State Cup champion and current #1 ranked team in NY State).  The WCFC team is currently ranked #5 in NY State.

WCFC also placed several girls and boys teams in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the NY Cup.

The U14, 15, 16 and 17 ECNL teams also participated in the NEWSS tournament with each team finishing in second place in their bracket.

At the MSSL Winter College Showcase the U15 NPL team posted 3 wins and 1 loss to take first place in the Super Group bracket.  The team defeated the second place Metuchen SC Rover Juniors in their final match to win the bracket and take home first place. 

The U16 NPL team (finished in third place in their bracket) and U15 Spurs (finished in second place in their bracket) also participated in this event.

Members of the World Class FC program on the Glen Rock High School team -  Sarah Fiorino, Grace Taylor, Hannah Petrone, Caroline Taylor, Julia Kelly, and Emma Daly - helped celebrate the victory after defeating Bordentown in the Group 2 final

Glen Rock posted an overwhelming and resounding victory for one of the winningest programs in state history.  Glen Rock, No. 9 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, received two goals from senior Grace Taylor and recorded a 4-0 victory over Bordentown in the NJSIAA Group 2 championship match at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.

Delaney Williams (ECNL U18), Alanna O’Neill (ECNL U17), Megan Hazlett (ECNL U17) and Kelsey Davis (ECNL U16), playing for Washingtonville HS, won the NY State Class AA Girls Soccer Championship in a triple-overtime victory against Webster Thomas.

Vincent Colantuono (NPL U15 NPL) won the NY State Class AA Boys Championship with Arlington High School in a 2-1 victory over Brentwood.

Ireland will travel to Belarus in October for the first qualifying phase of the UEFA U17 Championships. On October 1 they meet Belarus, on October 3 they meet Georgia and on October 6 they will meet Finland. The winners of the 11 groups go through along with the five runners-up with the best record against the first and third-placed teams, to ensure there are 16 sides in the next phase.

The ECNL All-Event Teams are selected based upon nominations from coaches and scouts based upon individual and team performances over the course of the three-game event. At the PDA event, nine clubs placed at least two players on All-Event Teams, including four players from PDA and three from World Class. A total of 24 different ECNL Member Clubs were represented among the 33 honored players.
