U10 and U12 Girls Champions at PDA Spring Kickoff Event

Another weekend of high level, imaginative, and technical soccer for the U12 Girls Future team resulted in them winning for the third time in a row at the PDA Spring Kickoff tournament. In bracket play the girls were matched against the PDA Gunners Blue squad, the FC Virginia 99, and the New Jersey Crush Stampede. On the first day they won their games against the PDA and Virginia teams 4-0 and 5-0 respectively, securing their placement in the championship fixture. On Sunday morning they matched up against the Stampede which ended in a 0-2 loss. In the afternoon championship match against PDA Gunners White, the girls won by a score of 3-0 capturing their third title.

The U10 Charlton squad also participated in the PDA Spring Kickoff posting 2 wins and one draw to finish in first place in the top flight of their age group.

Horst Wein Travels from Europe to World Class FC to Host Coaching Seminar

As part of its ongoing commitment to coaching education and developing a consistent model for player development throughout its program, World Class FC invited Horst Wein from Spain to join the club for a three-day coaching clinic.

Horst Wein is known as “the coach of coaches” having mentored and influenced thousands of coaches in 55 countries over nearly three decades. His internationally renowned YOUTH FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT MODEL is the first ever, age-appropriate, program for training young players has been refined, expanded and updated to include the most valuable current trends in coaching. One of his 34 books, Developing Youth Football Players, is the official textbook of the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Football Federation of Australia. Horst has written and lectured extensively on four continents. Horst has consulted for dozens of European clubs including Arsenal, Sunderland, Leeds United, FC Barcelona, Villareal, Bayer Leverkusen, Schalke 04 and Inter Milan. National federations who have relied on his counsel include England, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Denmark and more.

U12 Girls Win Jefferson Cup Tournament

The 99s showed beautiful soccer skills, tenacity, ability to read the game, and motivation as they competed in and won the top flight (championship 11v11) in their age group, allowing only one (1) goal, while scoring eleven (11) goals. In the championship game the girls played Campton United SC Navy which were also undefeated in bracket play and had only allowed one goal. Campton and the 99s played a great game in the afternoon heat, keeping a quick pace in this highly contested match. In the end, the 99s won by a score of 3-0.

World Class FC Hosts USSF Soccer Training Center Program

During the Spring 2012 season, WCFC will be hosting player evaluation sessions sponsored by the United States Soccer Federation’s player identification program. These Training Center Programs are invitation-only sessions run by the Head Technical Advisor in charge of Region I (Boys and Girls) for the USSF.

In addition to working within the U-15/16 and U-17/18 age groups, the Technical Advisor also works with younger age groups in Region I. The purpose of the Training Center Program is to identify the best players in our region for consideration to the US Youth National Team programs. Kazbek Tambi, the World Class FC DOC, will be assisting in these evaluations along with other members of the USSF National Coaching Staff.

World Class FC Players Invited to Regional ECNL Player Development Program

ECNL Player Development Program :

The ECNL Player Development Program is in conjunction with US Club Soccer’s id² Player Development Programs (ECNL PDP). ECNL PDP events provide an opportunity for the top players within every ECNL Conference to play with and against the best players within their region at multiple age groups, and to attend presentations from leading coaches or experts in elite athlete development. ECNL PDPs are created with three primary goals:

(i) Identify the top players within each ECNL Conference at multiple age groups;

(ii) Provide a developmental experience; and

(iii) Recognize and reward individual performance and achievement.

In 2011-2012, there will be ten such programs taking place across the country, with every ECNL Club assigned to one either based upon their conference or their geographic location. ECNL PDPs will bring together the top 60 players within the conference or geographic region for a weekend of training, competition, and education.

Each ECNL PDP will include approximately 60 players: 30 from the 1993/1994 age groups and 30 from the 1995/1996 age groups.

Players are selected for the ECNL PDPs based on their performance in ECNL competitions and recommendations from coaches. Each ECNL PDP will occur over two days and will include three training sessions/matches and a presentation for the players. All players will also receive Nike training gear. The ECNL will be covering the costs of participation in the ECNL PDP, excluding travel costs for participating players.

Based upon their performance in ECNL competitions and in the ECNL PDPs over the course of the year, players may be invited to participate in the 2012 ECNL / id²National Training Camp.

WCFC wins at National Elite Womens Soccer Showcase (NEWSS)

WCFC teams posted strong results at NEWSS :

WCFC U14 ECNL - The girls won their bracket with a victory against South Shore Select Legacy (4-1) and two draws against World Cup SC of Nashua (2-2) and ISA Sting Thunder (2-2), advancing to the championship match on Sunday against Roxbury Spurs. In the finals the girls posted a 1-0 victory to take home the championship.

WCFC U15 ECNL - The girls won their bracket with three victories against PDA (3-1), Massapequa (4-1) and FSA United (2-0), advancing to the championship match on Sunday against Manhattan Hotspur. In the finals the girls posted a 2-1 victory to take home the championship.

WCFC U17 Premier - The girls won their bracket with three victories against Explosion FC Orange Crush from Mass. (3-0), Morris United (2-0) and Lake Grove Power (2-0), advancing to the championship match on Sunday against Crusaders United from Mass. This was a close match that went to overtime with the Crusaders edging out WCFC on PK’s.

WCFC U18 ECNL - The girls won their bracket with two wins against Yankee United (1-0) and Vaughan Azzurri fron Canada (2-0) and a draw against Matchfit Chelseas Wildcats (1-1), advancing to the championship match on Sunday against Massapequa Force. In the finals the girls posted a 1-0 victory to win the championship.
